Do you have faith?

While walking through the sweet corn patch the other day, I was reminded of how important faith is in life.  I don't necessarily mean faith in a higher being, but belief that things will work out.  Some may consider these two perspectives as being the same thing.
As I walked through the patch I observed how well the sweet corn was growing.  The patch seemed healthy.  Only a week before, I was walking through the patch and I remembered thinking just the opposite.  I thought then, the plants seemed too small for their age and the color of the leaves did not seem quite as sharp green as they should be.  I remembered feeling a bit worried.  What a difference a week made!  I'm not sure what happened to bring the corn around to a more healthy point.  Perhaps the weather, perhaps my expectations for what the corn should look like was wrong a week ago and I created worry where none was needed.  Perhaps I'm a little paranoid after having a failed crop of sweet corn last year!  Either way, one thing I do know, I'll walk through that patch some other time during this growing season and come across something that will cause me to worry, unless of course, I rely on the effort and work I put in to grow a good patch of corn and accept their are elements of the process I can not control.  If things don't work out (as they didn't last year), I'll still be here next year, as I am this year.  If I believe, deeply, in my mind that things will ultimately work out, then I don't have to worry any more.
I'm willing to bet that story resonates with many as a metaphor for just about any aspect of life.  Here's another part of that metaphor.  That story is only about sweet corn.  I didn't even get into the barley, alfalfa, pumpkins, beans, cows, pigs, etc.  I could have told a similar story about any of these things that are grown on the farm.  Just as the concept of having faith and believing that with hard work, everything works out applied to the farm, it applied to all aspects of the life with; marriages, careers, relationships, finances and so on.
Work hard to create the reality you desire and have faith that through your hard work and optimism, things will work out, so you don't have to worry.

Your Farmer,
Corey
